  • In the 1901 census, John and Frank Lake are listed among nine children in house No 4, Newtownmountkennedy whose relation to the head of the household, Anne Flynn, is given as “orphant”.
Does anyone have any idea who these children are, and why they should have been in this house?

  • Hi Shane,

The best sources for historic maps are Heritage Maps at https://www.heritagecouncil.ie/projects/heritage-maps and Ordnance Survey maps (including historical maps) at https://webapps.geohive.ie/mapviewer/index.html . Wishing you every success with your project.

  • Hello, I am an artist and I am looking to do a series of drawings based on, and using copies of historic maps of the areas surrounding The Great Sugarloaf mountain.

Is it possible for me to study the relevant maps and to receive copies of these maps?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi I’m trying to find out about Eoin O’Brion / O’Byrne, my friend is in his late 80’s and is trying to track down any information about his grandfather who was Curator of Avondale house is the 1800’s and we believe he was the gardener at Glendalough house or Barton house in Anemoe but we have found nothing else.

    Sarah
