Avoca River Stories - A Children's Art Project

This project is a follow on to the Avoca River Stories (film) project carried on in 2020. In  2021 we  continued our exploration, but this time opted to  work with local schoolchildren in Arklow to document the richness of the Avoca River from their eyes.

We  partnered with Creative Associate Laura Ní Fhlaibhín who in turn liaised with the two local schools; St. Michael & Peter’s Junior School & Gaelscoil Inbhir Mhoir and artist Lucy Hill . The project involved the schoolchildren participating in a series of online and in-person workshops with Lucy and use a range of artistic tools including words, clay modelling, colour to explore movement and  wildlife along the river.

‘Avoca River Stories-  A Childrens Art Project’ was officially launched in Arklow Library on 20/06/22 at a special screening of the films with  participating schoolchildren and teachers were in attendance. This project was supported by the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council with funding from the Creative Wicklow Programme as part of  Creative Ireland

We hope you enjoy the films produced by this talented bunch!
