1914- Sleepwalking Into War by Julian Walton
Julian Walton is the well known Waterford historian who will give this most interesting lecture on the origins of World War 1 in the Old School Roundwood on Monday June 30 at 8.30pm. This special talk will be just two days after the centenary of the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28 1914.
For almost twenty years Julian has delighted listeners of Waterford Local Radio with ‘On this Day’, a daily short talk on an item of historical interest. He was a secondary teacher of history for many years and is now Historian in Residence at Dunhill Multi-Educational Centre, Co. Waterford, and gives an annual course of ten lectures
He has had a lifelong interest in Irish history, especially that of his home county of Waterford. He has edited two historical journals, is a Vice-President of the Irish Genealogical Research Society and a trustee of Waterford County Museum.
