Bat Walk At Blessington Native Woodland Trust Reserve

Bat walk for kids

Saturday 5th July 2014: Blessington Bat walk

Would you like to learn a little bit more about the bats found in Ireland? If so then come along to the Native Woodland Trust bat walk. This event is on the 5th July from 9.30pm to 11pm at the NWT Blessington Reserve.

The Native Woodland Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection of Ireland’s rare native and ancient woodland. The Trust achieves this by setting up woodland reserves around the country. This reserves network allows the Trust to protect existing woodland as well as plant new native woodland for the future. Part of the work we do involves running educational and fun events for our members and the public to encourage more people to use their local woodlands.

On this bat walk we will be learning a little bit about the bats found in Ireland. We will be using bat detectors to find out what bats are flying above us on the Native Woodland Trust’s Blessington Reserve. Remember this is an evening event so dress appropriately to keep the chills away and don’t forget to bring a torch!

The meeting point for this event will be at 9.30p.m. at the ESB car park off the N81 just south of the reserve. For a map and further details please check our website www.nativewoodlandtrust.ie or the events section of our Facebook page. This event will run from 9.30pm until 11pm and all are welcome. The event is free for members with a suggested donation of €4 for non-members.

For more details please contact Rebecca at rebecca.doyle@nativewoodlandtrust.ie or on 087 9619083.
