Clan O’Byrne is pleased to confirm its annual event will take place on Sunday 13 September 2015. This year Clan O’Byrne in partnership with the Military History Society of Ireland presents ‘A Tour of the O’Byrne Country’. The tour will begin at the site of the castle at Newcastle in the morning at 10.45am. The tour at 11.30am leaves Newcastle for Glenmalure where Dr. Emmett O’Byrne will deliver a lecture at 12.30pm on Feagh McHugh O’Byrne’s victory over Lord Grey on 25 August 1580.

There will then be a stop off for lunch at the Glenmalure Lodge at 1.30pm.

After lunch, Dr. Pat McCarthy will also speak at 2.30pm on the history of Drumgoff Barracks.

After Glenmalure, the tour will visit Deputy’s Pass in Glenealy – arriving about 3.45pm. There Dr. Emmett O’Byrne will speak on Feilim McFeagh O’Byrne’s victory over the seneschal of the O’Byrne Country, Sir Henry Harrington, on 28 May 1599.

It is planned there will be a communal dinner at Parkview Hotel at Newtown Mount Kennedy at 6pm – which is optional.
