Glendalough Community Archaeological Excavations August 2018


Glendalough Heritage Forum are delighted to invite applications for places on the Community Archaeology Excavation at Glendalough this August. The excavation runs immediately before Heritage Week, from Tues August 7th through to Friday August 17th and is provided by UCD School of Archaeology with support from Wicklow County Council, Heritage Council, National Parks & Wildlife Service, Office Public Works, National Monuments Service and UCD School of Archaeology.
The site is immediately adjacent to the main monastic complex at Glendalough.
No previous archaeological experience is required, and all training is provided. Archaeological fieldwork requires a moderate level of fitness (light gardening): if you have any concerns in this regard please talk to us – we have always been able to find ways of accommodating people.
Sat 11th August is a day of excavation for young adults (13 yrs old) who are accompanied by by a parent/guardian.
