GREYSTONES ARCHAEOLOGICAL & HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The forthcoming 2015-2016 volume of the Greystones Archaeological and Historical Society Journal will be the Society’s eighth, and the largest to date. Editor Frank Deignan has produced a wide-ranging collection, with articles covering World War 1 and its impact on the lives of local people, Greystones’s built history, the 1953 wreck of the ‘Princess Victoria’, and goldmining in Co Wicklow. Contributors include Lord Meath and Anne Ferris TD, Seamus Hayden, Andrew Phelan, James Scannell of the Old Dublin Society and Brian White of Bray Cualann Historical Society, as well as GAHS members Joan Jones, Colin Love and Rosemary Raughter.  

 

The Journal will be launched by historian, author and broadcaster Turtle Bunbury at 6.30pm on Friday 25 September at Greystones Golf Club, as part of the weekend’s La Touche Legacy Seminar (details at http://www.greystonesahs.org/gahs1/index.php/events?id=350)  Copies will be available for sale at the GAHS stand at the Seminar, from Ireton’s, Killincarrig Road from 26 September, and through the Society’s website www.greystonesahs.org
