Houses & Landscapes Of North Wicklow And South Dublin

KILMACANOGUE HISTORY SOCIETY

Glenview  Hotel : 8.00 pm on Tuesday 5th April 2016

The talk will consist of a tour of houses of North Wicklow and South Dublin – Old Rathdown you could say, and will include many photos of some well known and some lesser known places – often featuring the interiors.  Some of these places were visited in the company of  Norman Colin and the lecture will be a modest tribute to his terrier-like determination to find out about the areas rich history and persuade people to present talks on a wide range of subjects!

Peter  is a native of  Dunlaoghaire and has been a professional painter and writer all his life.  His work is often inspired by the Built Heritage of Ireland, Dublin and surrounding counties.  He has been involved with many campaigns to save old buildings and has much practical experience in their restoration.  The saving of Drimnagh Castle, and the Sick and Indigent Roomkeepers’ house in Dublin, are two such projects.

Peter has a new book out called Of Sea and Stone, which features many of his paintings, some of which relate to the Built Heritage and landscape of this area. There will be copies for sale on the night.

Note start-time is 8.00 pm.

Entry €3 (€2 for members) – all welcome.
