First World War Irish Poets

Frank Tracy

Venue: Glenview Hotel @ 8.00 pm on Tuesday 9th January 2018

Frank will present his illustrated talk on the Irish poets who served in the First World War.  Topics covered will include: the origins of World War I; the war on the Western Front; Major Roger Gregory/W. B. Yeats; the life and writings of Tom Kettle; the life and writings of Patrick MacGill; the life and writings of Francis Ledwidge.

Frank Tracy, born in the Liberties in Dublin, graduated from University College Galway with a B.A. in Celtic Archaeology, and spent most of his working life in the Public Service.  He is a keen hillwalker, and as a local historian has published many articles and books, including South Dublin Rambles (2009) and If Those Trees Could Speak (2005).
