Music In Calary Church

The next concert in our 2014 Music in Calary series will be given by Deirdre Moynihan (soprano) and Alec O’Leary (guitar) at 8pm on Thursday 18 September. Their programme will include pieces by Sor, Rodrigo, Solis, Garcia Lorca, Montsalvatge and exciting arrangements of cinematic songs from their new CD.

Deirdre has performed in Canada, U.S.A, Israel, Brazil, Lebanon, Japan, China and throughout Europe and her debut CD of Vivaldi Cantatas was released by Naxos in January 2014. She has sung as a soloist with, amongst others, the R.T.É Concert Orchestra, Irish Baroque Orchestra, Irish Chamber Orchestra, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra Crash Ensemble and Con Tempo string quartet. Radio broadcasts include Lyric FM, RTE Radio 1 and BBC Radio Ulster.

Alec is widely recognized as one of the foremost guitarists of his generation and studied with John Feeley at the Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama, where he attained his Masters Degree in performance. He has received tuition from some of the world’s most distinguished musicians including Manuel Barreuco, Scott Tennant, Sergio Assad and Roland Dyens and he also studied in Naples with Maestro Aniello Desiderio. Alec is co-founder and director of one of Europe’s most prestigious guitar festivals, the Guitar Festival of Ireland.
