My Place on Canvas

“My Place on Canvas” is an interactive art project culminating in an exhibition of paintings celebrating Co. Wicklow landscapes and a book publication in 2016. Artist Rod Coyne asks you to share your special place, which he will paint and exhibit alongside your words.

This is a call to action to have your say which landscapes will appear in the show. Basically, Rod paints requests.There is no charge and it is open to all. You just need to share some details about your “My Place” and Rod will do the rest. So if there’s a place that’s special to you and you’d like to see it immortalised on canvas then fill out the questionnaire and forward it to Rod Coyne. Please get your entries in soonest. Nomination Deadline is November 2015.

The project, in its third year, seeks to break down some of the barriers and exclusivity that still exist around art, and has captured the public’s imagination.

“My Place On Canvas” exhibition is runs in County Buildings, Wicklow Town 15th -29th June. Meet artist Rod Coyne on 25th & 26th June in County Buildings for a “My Place on Canvas” open day (10am – 4pm). Drop in and make your own nomination for him to paint your place on canvas. He will be demonstrating his painting techniques, showing work in progress and explaining this interactive project.
