'Plane crash in the Wicklow mountains, August 12th 1946' by Bill Nelson

Local history talk at Wicklow Town Library Branch Saturday 2nd December @ 2pm

A flight left Paris Le Bourget airport for Dublin on 12 August 1946 carrying five crew and 21 French Girl guides. In the aftermath of World War Two, the Girl Guides had been invited by their Irish counterparts to relieve their wartime tribulations and enjoy a holiday camp in Rathfarnham. However, the plane never arrived, crashing into Djouce Mountain off the Knockree to Roundwood section of the Wicklow Way. Miraculously, everyone on the flight survived.

All are invited to this talk with retired aviation engineer, Bill Nelson, who will describe the events surrounding the accident.

The talk will take place in the Exhibition Space on the 3rd floor.
