Rathnew Heritage Open Day

The Rathnew 1916 Commemoration Committee in conjunction with the Rathnew Community Hall Committee will hold an open day on February 20th with a wide range of events from 12pm to 4 pm. This will include an opening address, an Art and Rathnew heritage 1916 exhibition, a vintage vehicle, re-enactors with uniforms, costumes and weapons, music and video presentations.

There will be two speakers present who will talk on Revolutionary Wicklow and World War I along with poetry readings, ballad singing and a reading of the 1916 Proclamation. The event will finish with a wreath laying ceremony in Rathnew Graveyard to mark the service of so many men from Rathnew Village in World War I. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the afternoon. The Committee aims to work in conjunction with Wicklow County Council and Ireland 1916. All are welcome to attend.
