Genealogical Query- Looking for Margaret Hannon's family
Margaret Hannon or Hannan came to Australia as a young woman in the early 1850s. She married Thomas Fitzpatrick in 1853 in Melbourne and they had 7 children. They moved to Candelo in southern NSW where she died in 1876. Her marriage registration and the children’s birth registrations say she came from County Wicklow but nothing more specific. Her parents were Matthew or Michael Hannon and Eliza/Elizabeth Maguire. She possibly came out with a group of girls from the Shillelagh Workhouse.
A newspaper item in 1902 was searching for information about her and indicated that her mother remarried somebody named White and that there were 2 boys by that marriage.
Her great granddaughter would like to know more about her parents and siblings.

It seems she came on the Eliza Caroline as one of Earl Grey’s Workhouse orphan girls and her native place was Hacketstown so definitely from the Shillelagh workhouse. Did she marry in Geelong as that is where she went to work.
