Kilmacanogue History Society

The KHS program

The first half of our 2017 programme of talks and our Summer Outing have been completed, which  we hope you found interesting and entertaining.  You might like to take a look at our programme for the coming Autumn  attached below as a PDF.

We are working currently in setting up the programme for 2018, and expect to be able to circulate this in good time.

Proposed new Society activity

Do you have a story in Local History vein that you would like to see more widely known, and preserved for posterity perhaps – a family story or a story about your locality of local-history interest.

Our hope is to aid you in putting these ‘stories’ into the public domain – perhaps lodged in a designated archive on our website, published in a new form of Society booklet, or presented as a talk to the Society. Other options may present themselves too.

You could tell the story to us, and from a recording we could generate a manuscript to be refined with you.  If you yourself presented us with a draft, we could work on that with you too.

You may have old papers,  photographs,  memorabilia that could be worked into a publishable article. Indeed some of these might be of interest to the various national archives, and we could get you advice on this.

We feel that the Society ought to contribute to the preservation of Wicklow local history, and  hope to be at work on this activity by September.  Your practical involvement in this endeavour would be most welcome of course.

So if any of this appeals to you, send us an expression of interest as an initial step; email us at the address below.
