Holy Wells of Co.Wicklow Fundraiser Walk

This is a relaxed guided walk in the hillls with views of Glendalough and the surrounding areas of Wicklow to an ancient well in Tropperstown called Fraughan’s Well/ The Blessed Well.

Meeting point:Trooperstown Car Park near Laragh.10.45am

The walk will include some information on the folklore and traditions of Co.Wicklow’s holy wells of which there are about 120 on the old maps.
Walk along ancient ways and learn about the rituals, traditions and folklore associated with the Holy Wells in the pre-Christian and Christian traditions.

The walk is donation based and 100% of donations received will be used to fund marker stones and information plaques for two wells in West Wicklow.( St Mogues Well Roddenagh and St Fiac’s Well Killabeg Coolakenno).Every donation however small helps us to continue to do our work with the old sacred wells in Wicklow.

Suggested donation(€5 to €15 to whatever amount you want to give!)
A moderate level of fitness is required as the first part of the walk is uphill in the forest and the second part is along the main road. Good walking shoes and rain gear needed.

Bring water and snacks.No dogs allowed.Not suitable for buggy’s and younger children.Older children with adults are allowed on the walk.

For anyone who has time we will be going for a cuppa afterwards in Glendalough Green Laragh.
