Photos of some Heritage Happenings!

The Heritage council in association with Wicklow County Council supported some heritage components to this year’s Wicklow Arts Festival.

Vikings came and camped on the banks of the Leitrim River, courtesy of the Fingal Living History Society. They proved a friendly lot and were keen to explain about their crafts, history, dress and weapons.

Mark Kelly and Co from the School of Irish Archaeology set up a demonstration archaeological ‘Big Dig’ where kids could have a go at excavating some carefully placed objects. Participants were introduced to the basics of archaeology and learned all about the significance of their finds.

Foosteps in Time was a heritage trail compiled with information supplied by the Wicklow Historical Society and proved very popular among young and old.

If you have any photos from the weekend please send them in and we will add to the gallery
