The PURE Mile’ is an environmental initiative of The PURE (Protecting Uplands and Rural Environments) project which aims to foster a greater appreciation and awareness of country roadscapes by rewarding and acknowledging local community efforts.

The PURE Mile competition has been running annually since 2009/10. In addition to stimulating local action 'on the ground' , the competition has led to the compilation of alot of information about local history, folklore, buildings, flora and fauna. This information is currently being archived, and summaries from each of the Miles will be published here in coming months.
