Preban - Stories From A Living Graveyard Podcast Series for Heritage Week

Older graveyards are  treasure troves of  history, genealogy, archaeology, arts and crafts, traditions and folklore of a locality. Nowhere is this more true than at Preban, near Annacurra in south county Wicklow. For Heritage Week 2020 we present a seven part podcast highlighting the stories of, and community engagement with, Preban Graveyard, Co. Wicklow. Funding has been provided by The Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council and The Heritage Council, under the County Heritage Plan  to present and animate the rich heritage of this site via these podcasts. The podcast series is  a collaboration between Ireland’s leading historical podcaster, Fin Dwyer (Irish History Podcast), public heritage specialist Damian Shiels (Shiels Heritage), and Wicklow archaeologist Yvonne Whitty (De Faoite Archaeology). Each podcast covers different aspects of the graveyard’s past and present, incorporating both narrative elements and interviews conducted within the community.
