Seek Contact with Descendants of Captain William O'Toole

I seek contact with the descendants of Captain William O’Toole (1827-ca. 1891) of Cork.  He was a ship master for the Cork Packet Steamship Company.  Captain O’Toole was born in the town of Wicklow the son of Patrick O’Toole and Margaret Loughlin.  He was married to Margaret or Ellen Donovan and is known to have had several children with her including John and William, Jr., who both entered the merchant marine and became ship masters.  His siblings include Captain Laurence O’Toole (1836-1899) who also worked for the Cork Packet Steamship Company, John O’Toole (1816-1903) who was an employee of the Michigan Central Railroad out of Jackson, Michigan, and a sister Margaret O’Toole (1817-1905) who married first Edwin Bennet Hoskyns of Dublin and settled with him in Livingston County, Michigan, and secondly Thomas Palmer, also originally of Dublin, but residing in Michigan.  I descend from Margaret O’Toole and Thomas Palmer and I would like to exchange family information with my distant Irish O’Toole cousins.

  • Hello Colleen,

Sorry to take years to respond, but I just noticed your reply. Please contact me at dulongj@habitant.org. I have a lot of information about the O’Tooles and their careers in the merchant marine. Would love to hear from you.

  • HI Patricia

I just saw your post. I am direct descendant of Laurence O’Toole. He was my great-great grandfather. His daughter Nellie O’Toole (Mulhall) was my great grand mother. I would like to make contact with you.
