Guided Walk in Glen of the Downs

Glen of The Downs Walk

Saturday 23rd November: Glen of the Downs Guided Native Woodland Walk

Would you like to experience the beauty of some of Ireland’s most beautiful and rare native woodlands whilst learning about the diferent flora and fauna they support? If so then come along to the Glenview Hotel on 23rd November at 12:00 noon.

The Native Woodland Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection of Ireland’s rare native and ancient woodland. The Trust achieves this by setting up woodland reserves around the country. This reserves network allows the Trust to protect existing woodland as well as plant new native woodland for the future. As part our work we run guided educational walks of local woodlands to help the community get out and learn about their local woodland heritage at fun informative events.

The lands surrounding the Glenview Hotel in Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow are home to some of Ireland’s most beautiful and rare native woodlands. There is a woodland walk which starts in the gardens of the hotel and takes you into the glen past babbling brooks and mature trees. We will follow this walk, stopping along the way to take in the beautiful scenery, and learn about native woodlands and the wildlife they contain. After the walk there will be an opportunity to find out more about the Native Woodland Trust over tea/coffee in the Glenview Hotel. The meeting point for this walk will be at 12:00 noon in the car park of The Glenview Hotel.  For a map and further details please check our website http://www.nativewoodlandtrust.ie/ or the events section of our Facebook page. The walk will run from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm and all are welcome. The event is free for NWT members with a suggested donation of €4 for non-members. For more details please contact Kirsty at kirsty.daly@nativewoodlandtrust.ie or on 087 9619083.
