Kilmacanogue History Society - 6th May meeting

Dr. Terry Dolan, internationally acclaimed author of A Dictionary of Hiberno-English and frequent broadcaster on RTE, BBC and Newstalk Radio, will give a fascinating insight into the origins of the distinctive way we use, abuse and enhance the English language.
Terry will regale us on local vocabulary, mispronunciations, brogue, local idioms, oblique metaphors, reckless fondness for swearing, and much more.
Dr. Terence Patrick Dolan is Emeritus Professor of English at the National University of Ireland, Dublin, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He is recognized internationally as one of the leading authorities on Hiberno-English.
