Plant a Tree for Your Community

Date: Saturday 16th February

Meeting Time: 11:00

Meeting Point: Brockagh Centre carpark, Laragh, Co Wicklow

Event Time: 11:00 – 16:00 (Planting can be carried out until 15:00)

Join the Native Woodland Trust for a spring tree planting volunteering day at their Wicklow Mountains Woodland Reserve in Laragh, Co Wicklow on Saturday 16th February.  Tree planting days are fantastic fun and a great way to get some exercise while helping Ireland’s environment. The Native Woodland Trust is creating a new native woodland reserve in the hills just above Laragh village near Glendalough. They are planting 1000’s of native oak, hazel, birch and scots pine and need your help – so come along to this tree planting day and plant your own tree.  Planting a tree is a very rewarding feeling and can be done by adult and child alike. The best bit is that all Native Woodland Trust reserves are fully open to the public so you can return anytime to watch your trees grow over the years. Lend a hand at this planting day, plant your own tree and be part of something special.

The Native Woodland Trust is an environmental charity dedicated to the protection of Ireland’s rare native and ancient woodland. They achieve this by setting up woodland reserves to protect existing woodland while providing places to plant new native woodland for the future. The reserve at Laragh will be developed into a community woodland complete with walking route and informational signage. The volunteering day on Saturday 16th is open to all, is free of charge and is a great opportunity to be part of the development of this community woodland and to learn all about our native trees with the Native Woodland Trust. The meeting point for this event is the Brockagh Centre carpark in Laragh at 11:00. Attendees can come to plant a single tree or stay on and plant as many as you like, as the event continues on till 16:00. To book on or for more details contact Kieran at kieran.flood@nativewoodlandtrust.ie or on 087 1953629.
